Review of Our Visit - This is THE only way to do Universal. If you stay at any of the Universal hotels you automatically get front of the line access to the rides at the Universal parks. This means that you literally walk onto almost every ride! This is an incredible advantage and, in my opinion, a very good reason to spend a few more dollars to stay at an on-site Universal hotel.
Portofino Bay is the best of the three hotels offered by Universal. It is the top of the line hotel with luxury accommodations, excellent amenities and service. The beds are super comfortable pillowtops and the pillows are wonderfully soft. |

This hotel had great food at all the eateries which include casual as well as formal dining. Italian is the predominant food selection of course. You pick up the water taxi at the dock and it's just a 5 minute boat ride to the entrance to either Universal park.
The pool area is beautiful and has a long water slide for the kids. There is an on-site spa that offers many different spa treatments. This is a first class hotel all the way. I could not find a thing wrong with this hotel in my three visits there.
I highly recommend this hotel if you can afford the price tag. Even if you can't, splurge and you'll have a truly unforgettable Orlando vacation.
